New Research project with the title "Cancer in Cyprus and its Psycho-social Aspects"

Recently RUBSI won funding from the Cyprus Research Promotion Council for the research program "Cancer in Cyprus and its Psycho-Social Aspects"
The general aim of the project is to investigate scientifically the psycho-social aspects of cancer and ways of dealing with the negative consequences of possible psycho-social exclusion. The project aspires not only to register the needs of the people with cancer, but also to investigate ways of satisfying their needs, of improving their quality of life, as well as of re-inclusion of these people into society.
The Director of RUBSI Dr Constantinos Phellas will coordinate the project. Costas Constantinou, PhD in Medical Anthropology, as well as Christina Loizou, sociologist, will work on behalf of RUBSI. Dr Maria Karekla, Clinical Psychologist is a collaborator on behalf of CARI (Cyprus Academic Research Institute). The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Oncology Center Cyprus. Finally Dr Eleni Tolma, Assistant Professor in the University Health Promotion Sciences Center, University of Oklahoma (USA), will offer her services as an overseas collaborator.
The project will be of 2 years duration.
